LCMC and United Healthcare what you need to know!

Currently LCMC management is directing all of their doctors to cancel all appointments with patients that have United healthcare insurance, and to tell them they are out of network, and therefore can’t see them.

This is not true in fact, this is LCMC’s negotiating tactic with United healthcare insurance since LCMC became aware of a payment deal that UHC and Ochsner facilities have and feel they should have the same deal.

LCMC and the doctors that work in those facilities are in fact still in network and want to be in network. If you have a upcoming appointment be prepared to receive a call from the doctors office or LCMC directly to cancel your appointment, and patients are scrambling to find another doctor in the Ochsner or stand-alone facilities, to continue medical care.

✅ What is confirmed

• LCMC and UHC are in active contract negotiations over reimbursement rates for LCMC hospitals/facilities. UnitedHealthcare+3WDSU+3ALT 92.3 | WZRH-FM+3

• The deadline for their current contract extension is November 1, 2025. If an agreement is not reached, LCMC hospitals may go out-of-network for most UHC commercial (employer-sponsored and ACA Marketplace) plans. WDSU+2ALT 92.3 | WZRH-FM+2

• UHC published a set of FAQs on their site regarding LCMC, acknowledging the possibility that LCMC could leave the UHC network. UnitedHealthcare+1

• According to LCMC’s statements, if the hospitals go out of network, physicians affiliated with LCMC may remain in network, but that does not guarantee that services at LCMC facilities will remain covered at in-network rates. ALT 92.3 | WZRH-FM+1

• Specifics provided: Commercial products (employer + ACA) are at risk. Plans under Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, or supplemental UHC coverage reportedly are not impacted (or at least less impacted).

⚠️ What remains uncertain / disputed

• The exact status of every physician office affiliated with LCMC: Some messaging suggests the physicians will remain in-network, but that may vary by plan, specialty, or facility.

• The claim that all doctors/facilities will cancel appointments for UHC patients is not verified in publicly available official statements. What is clear is that risk of out-of-network status is acknowledged.

• Whether the message you received (that LCMC doctors are directing cancellations) is officially from LCMC or just anecdotal. We did not find a public statement explicitly sanctioning mass cancellations of UHC patients.

• The precise financial/dollar terms of what LCMC is demanding vs. what UHC is offering: UHC claims LCMC asked for a > 40 % rate hike, which LCMC disputes. ALT 92.3 | WZRH-FM

• The timeframe for resolution beyond November 1 (if no deal)—whether temporary extension or transitional coverage might be made available.
